Back Home

My housemate Ama got married! My other housemate Lindy, decided to move to Portland. So I have moved back in with my family!

And let me tell you. It's a tough life here. Melissa is constantly getting me new stuff to style up my room. Jessica is always hugging me and being all loving.
And Elona is always doing my makeup and trying to fix me up (since I never do it myself). It's really tough. I practically hate it here.

(not really)

It's actually the best of both worlds here. I have my own studio, which is in my parents' backyard. Which means, for the first time in my life I have my very own kitchen!

"With us it's different. How we are doing it, so it is correct."

-Heinrich, about our courtroom interpretations

(In our translations, we were grossly simplifying terms. For example, "expert
evidence" was reduced to "that which they say, who know something about this." But Heinrich is right: If we create new legal terminology in Plautdietsch, the respondents won't understand.)

It tickles me that there is an official need for our home language.

The DOJ waived us from the required one year judiciary interpreting experience. Instead, they gave us an interpreting trainer. We met with him yesterday, and he told us there is one other Plautdietsch interpreter somewhere in the North East.
