The DOJ and DHS* need a Plautdietsch interpreter! They have scheduled a language assessment with me for October 20. It seems like SUCH an exciting opportunity! And it's a freelance position, so I would not be giving up my current job.

while I sat in the backseat of my parents' car, trying to translate a police report...
ME: Does Plautdietsch even have a word for police?
DAD: Polizae. [German word with Plautdietsch accent]
ME: How would you say Department of Justice?
MOM: Daut Hues woo de Rejchta es.
They were so quick, I knew they'd be perfect for the job. So I had them apply . . . and now all 3 of us are up for the same position.May the best man win. :-)

Oh Natalie! How did your interview go? It would be great for you to get into interpreting for people who need it. We're having a very nice time in Denver with the little family. Wyatt is really a cute and happy little baby and Erin has bounced back from childbirth really well.
Happy happy birthday to your mom, too! I love the picture of you girls at the Apple Farm.
